Chirashi Don Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup short-grain rice
- 4 ounces of sashimi grade fish of your choice: we used salmon, sea bream, tuna
- 2 tablespoons ikura (fish roe)
- Garnish with chopped green onions
Sushi Seasoning
- 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
Steps
- Cook your rice according to package instructions.
- While your rice is cooking, make your sushi seasoning. Heat all ingredients in a saucepan until the sugar has dissolved and then set aside to cool.
- Mix cooked rice with sushi seasoning and let cool a few minutes before adding fish — you don’t want the heat of the rice to cook your fish.
- Cut your fish into 1 inch cubes.
- Add your fish to your rice.
- Top evenly with ikura.
