Nourish: Matcha White Chocolate Cookies

The deep, earthy notes of matcha and the creamy sweetness of white chocolate come together in perfect contrast in these cookies. With a chewy center, crisp edges, and a rich, buttery texture, they strike just the right balance—bold yet delicate, sweet but never overwhelming.

Best enjoyed fresh out of the oven with a cup of steaming green tea, these cookies are so comforting and delicious. Whether enjoyed as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, a quiet treat before bed, or something special to share, these cookies bring a little extra joy to the everyday. They’re easy to make but taste like a treat worth slowing down for, especially when served on our beautiful ceramics.

Matcha White Chocolate Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups (220 grams) of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of high-quality matcha powder
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ cup (113 grams) of unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (150 grams) of light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (50 grams) of granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (170 grams) of white chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  2. In a separate bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract, beating until smooth. We now combine the wet and dry ingredients. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the white chocolate chips.

  4. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps deepen the flavor and ensures the cookies bake up with the perfect chewy texture.

  5. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft. Let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

  7. Serve warm with a cup of tea in your favorite OWIU Goods ceramic cup, and take a moment to savor the simple pleasure of a beautifully made cookie.

At OWIU Goods, we believe in finding joy in simple rituals, where food and craft come together in harmony. These cookies will sure to be a mainstay in your kitchen. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
