Smoked Mackerel On Toast Recipe


  • One fillet of smoked mackerel
  • Bulb of fennel
  • Toast
  • One clove of garlic
  • Lemon
  • Fresh dill
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Toast some bread on a pan with some olive oil until it forms a crust. While they toast, use a mandolin and finely slice the fennel (or use a knife).
  2. Bread up the mackerel with your hands.
  3. Slice the toast in half. Place toast on a plate.
  4. Slice the end of a garlic clove and rub the bigger side of the garlic over the toast and drizzle some oil.
  5. Add the fish, skin side up. Place the sliced fennel on top of the fish together with some fresh dill.
  6. Zest some lemon and squeeze some juice over the toast. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Ready to eat!
